The Second Class Citizenship of Dieting

  1. So sad and so true. As a thin person who fights constantly to stay thinner than nature wants (WORK-IN-PROGRESS), I know what it is like to be on the receiving side of those comments. I have friends who have seen my “robust” appetite because I’ve worked hard to prove how “lucky” I am, but in fact after they see me down the pizza and ice cream I don’t eat again for some arbitrary period of time, or I hide away in vegetable purgatory for a week. It’s all such a mindfuck, excuse my french. And it makes me feel like I am living a lie-so true, that it is not just about food but about how you feel about your own worth in this world. I hate that we’ve gotten to this place so universally. I hope so hard the tide is changing…
